Handcarved Coral Rose Lapel Pin

Lapel pins have been staples of formal wear since the 13th century. Originally, lapel pins were simple bent metals that could easily weave into a silk jacket. The small hole in the lapel of men’s suits was originally used for fresh flowers, which some used to repel bad luck. However, in the 19th century, jeweled pins, chains, and even cigar cases joined the lapel through the craftsmanship of lapels.
