The Studio

The Studio

What does Grant Alexander Studio do?

Grant Alexander Studio is a Chicago studio that helps executives and founders come across the way they intend, on camera, on stage, and in the room. There are four ways to work with us: Executive Styling & Wardrobe, Creative Direction for a launch or raise, a Studio Day before a keynote or interview, and The Monthly, one filmed conversation a month.

Who is the Studio for?

Founders, CEOs, and executives with something coming: a bigger role, a launch or raise, a keynote, or a year of being looked at. If you’re earlier in the build, the Notes and the newsletter are free, so start there.

I just need help with how I dress. Is that something you do?

Yes, and it’s one of the main things we do. We build executive wardrobes: the closet edit, sourcing and custom clothing, and exactly what to wear written down, all checked against the camera. Start at the Styling page.

I have a launch, fundraise, or book coming. Can you help?

Yes. That’s creative direction: we work out the idea with you, direct every surface of it, and see it through to done. Start at the Creative Direction page.

What happens in the monthly session?

A real conversation, 75 minutes, on camera. No script, no teleprompter. Coaching is built in — you get sharper on camera every month, and everything we capture becomes your content.

Is this a content agency?

No. Agencies hand you content. The Studio makes you credible on camera and builds your presence from real conversation — the part AI can’t fake, and the part audiences can tell.

Is this PR?

No. PR gets you the interview; we make you worth interviewing, and ready for it when it lands. We work with PR firms, not against them.

Is this executive coaching?

No. We don’t coach your leadership. We coach the minutes when people are watching you — on camera, on stage, in the room — and we film the practice so you can see the change.

What does it cost?

Styling engagements start at $6,000, Creative Direction projects and Studio Days at $7,500, and The Monthly at $6,000 a month with a 4-month minimum. You’ll have an exact number after one conversation.

Styling & Wardrobe

Styling & Wardrobe

How much does executive styling cost?

Engagements start at $6,000, and custom clothing is priced per piece on top. The exact number depends on the size of the build, and you’ll have it after one conversation. More on the Styling page.

Do you work with what I already own?

Yes. The first step is a closet edit, and a good closet keeps most of what’s in it. We’re building your wardrobe, not replacing it for sport. More on the Styling page.

Is this personal shopping?

No. A shopper buys clothes. We work out what your wardrobe is for, then edit, build, and fit it, and write down exactly what to wear for which days. Shopping is one step in the middle. More on the Styling page.

What if most of my big days are on camera?

Then you’re in the right place, because everything we build is checked against the lens. And if you want to go further, a Studio Day puts you on camera with Grant for a full day. More on the Styling page.

Creative Direction

Creative Direction

How much does a creative direction project cost?

Projects start at $7,500 and are scoped and priced before any work begins. You’ll have a number after one conversation about what you’re making. More on the Creative Direction page.

Are you a fractional CMO?

No. A fractional CMO runs your marketing month to month. We direct one thing that matters, finish it, and hand it back. If what you want is ongoing work on how you come across, that’s The Monthly. More on the Creative Direction page.

Do you produce the video and photography too?

We direct it. We bring in crews when you need them and direct the ones you already have, so the output matches the idea. What you’re buying is the eye, not the equipment. More on the Creative Direction page.

How long does a project take?

As long as the date demands and no longer, because every project here has an end date. Most run a few weeks to a few months, set in the scope before we start. More on the Creative Direction page.

Studio Day

Studio Day

What do I walk away with?

A story you can tell out loud, a fully rehearsed keynote or interview, wardrobe direction for it, and edited video from the day. More on the Studio Day page.

I have one interview coming, not a keynote. Is a full day too much?

Maybe. For a single interview, podcast, or panel, partner firms bring me in for Media Prep: a prep call, a filmed mock interview, a straight debrief, and a wardrobe note. Tell me what you’re walking into and we’ll scope the right size. More on the Studio Day page.

What does a Studio Day cost?

A Studio Day starts at $7,500. The exact number depends on what you’re preparing for, how much rehearsal it needs, and what we film — you’ll have it after one conversation. More on the Studio Day page.

Is Studio Day part of The Monthly?

No. Studio Day stands alone: one day, one goal, no retainer attached. The longer build is The Monthly, and it’s a separate conversation. More on the Studio Day page.

Where does it happen?

Chicago, your office, or on location — including the actual room or stage you’ll be on, when that helps the rehearsal. More on the Studio Day page.

The Monthly

The Monthly

“Can’t AI do this for $500 a month?”

Yes, and it’ll read like it. What you’re buying isn’t content. It’s being credible on camera, and a system you’ll actually stick with, because your whole involvement is one conversation a month. More on The Monthly.

How much of my time does this take?

75 minutes on camera each month, plus about 15 minutes a week approving from your phone. That’s the entire ask. Everything else happens without you. That’s the point of the Studio. More on The Monthly.

What does The Monthly cost?

The Monthly runs from $6,000 a month, with a 4-month minimum, then month to month: one month to set what you stand for, three to practice it, then we look at the tape together. The exact number comes in your proposal after the Visibility Audit, once I’ve seen what you’re working with. More on The Monthly.

How do I know it’s working?

The tape doesn’t lie. After session 4 comes your first quarterly review: month-4 you against month-1 you, side by side, plus everything that shipped and what your name turns up now versus the day we started. If month-4 you doesn’t outperform month-1 you, fire me. More on The Monthly.

Are you in my videos?

Only as much as you want. I ask the questions and direct the session. In the edit, my voice can disappear entirely, or stay in for a TV-interview or podcast feel. Either way it’s branded as yours, not mine. The format serves your goals, and we pick it together. More on The Monthly.

Is media training part of this?

Yes, every session. Message, delivery, presence, and the vocal side: pacing, projection, filler words, the pauses that make people lean in. When someone wants deeper, sustained voice work, I bring in my vocal coach as an add-on. We can scope that in the first conversation. More on The Monthly.

Do I have to publish a podcast?

No. Some clients publish everything. Some keep a private executive archive and publish only the clips and writing. Your call, and you can change it monthly. More on The Monthly.

What if I’m not good on camera?

Almost nobody is when we start — that’s why coaching is built into every session. My questions do the work, and you’ll be better in 3 sessions than most executives get in a career. More on The Monthly.

Do we have to film in Chicago?

Most clients come to Chicago, and in person is worth it, every time. But we travel. My production team and I come to you, scoped as a custom engagement, and with enough notice most cities work. If virtual genuinely fits how you operate, it works too. Ask. More on The Monthly.

Do you post it for me?

No. Everything is delivered ready to post, with covers, captions, and pull-quotes done. You or your team hit publish. The Studio doesn’t do scheduling or social media management. If you want that handled, we bring in a partner and build it into the scope. More on The Monthly.

Where should I start?

Start with the problem in front of you: clothes is Styling, a launch or a raise is Creative Direction, one big day is a Studio Day. If you’re building for the longer term, that’s The Monthly, and any of the others can roll into it. More on The Monthly.

For Teams

For Teams

Is For Teams media training?

Yes. Real media training and executive communication work, on camera, run by someone who has done it live on GMA, WGN, and FOX. If that is the line your budget buys under, this is that line. More on the For Teams page.

Who is the For Teams day built for?

Leadership teams: founders, C-suite, and the executives your company puts in front of press, investors, and employees. Group size is scoped in conversation. More on the For Teams page.

Is the For Teams day filmed?

The work happens on camera either way. Whether you leave with a finished, edited record of the day is scoped when we talk. More on the For Teams page.

What does a day cost?

Days start at $15,000. The exact number depends on headcount, format, and whether the day is filmed. You will have it after one conversation. More on the For Teams page.

Specific questions

Specific questions

How is this different from agency media training?

Same budget line, different room. It is run by a working host who still delivers on live television, the reps are real and filmed, and the feedback is specific to the person in front of the camera, not a framework. More on the media training page.

Who is executive media training for?

Leadership teams a company puts in front of press, investors, and employees — and individual executives who want the reps monthly instead of once. More on the media training page.

Does media training have to happen in Chicago?

Chicago is home, and the room is worth it. But the Studio travels: days run on location with enough notice. More on the media training page.

What if I’m genuinely bad on camera?

Almost everyone is at the start — that is the point of coaching inside every session. You will be better in 3 sessions than most executives get in a career, and the tape will show it. More on the on-camera coaching page.

Is this presentation-skills training?

It includes that, but the reps are conversational and filmed, because interviews, panels, and video calls are where executives are actually judged. More on the on-camera coaching page.

How is progress measured in on-camera coaching?

On tape. Month against month, side by side, along with what your name turns up when people look. The tape doesn’t lie. More on the on-camera coaching page.

Is executive visibility just personal branding?

No. Personal branding optimizes how you package yourself. Executive visibility is whether you are credible when attention actually arrives — on camera, on stage, in the room — and what people conclude when they look you up. More on the executive visibility page.

Can’t our PR firm handle this?

PR earns the moment; visibility is being worth the moment and ready for it. We work with PR firms, not against them. More on the executive visibility page.

Where does executive visibility work start?

With a free 30-minute Visibility Audit: what your name turns up today, how you read on camera, and 3 specific upgrades — useful either way. More on the executive visibility page.

How far ahead should we book keynote preparation?

Far enough for at least one rehearsal to settle — weeks are better than days. If the moment is tomorrow, ask anyway. More on the keynote and interview preparation page.

Do you write the keynote?

No. The writing stays with you or your speechwriter, and we work happily alongside the firm that wrote it. We make the delivery match the material. More on the keynote and interview preparation page.

Is keynote preparation media training?

It is media training pointed at one date on the calendar: real reps, on camera, for the moment you have named. More on the keynote and interview preparation page.

Do you dress women as well as men?

Yes — the advisory works for anyone on camera: fit, color, silhouette, and what the lens does to fabric. My custom-clothing history is menswear, and I say so; for custom womenswear, a specialist works under my direction. More on the wardrobe for camera and stage page.

Can I hire the Studio just for wardrobe?

Yes. That’s Executive Styling & Wardrobe: the closet edit, sourcing and custom clothing, and exactly what to wear, written down. Start at the Styling page. More on the wardrobe for camera and stage page.

What should I wear on camera?

As a starting point: solid mid-tones, structure through the shoulders, nothing that shines or vibrates. The real answer depends on the set, the light, and you — which is what the wardrobe note is for. More on the wardrobe for camera and stage page.
